Tax Reassessment Information

Pennsylvania's reassessment system is fragmented and unfair. We are the only state in the nation that provides no uniformity for the reassessment process, and no protection for homeowners when a countywide reassessment suddenly causes a spike in their property tax bill. As a member of the House Finance Committee, I joined with committee Chairman Dave Levdansky to advance H.R. 334, which I believe would protect taxpayers from Pennsylvania’s flawed system of property tax reassessment.

House Resolution 334, which contains the same language found in my H.R. 272, would direct the Legislative Budget and Finance Committee to conduct a study of the current system of property tax reassessment in Pennsylvania and make recommendations to the General Assembly on ways to improve Pennsylvania's system of property tax reassessment.

Several media outlets have recently done stories concerning county reassessments in Pennsylvania, including the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette and the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review, as well as a report on WTAJ.
