Davis lauds UPMC’s decision to make UPMC’s Hillman Cancer Center locations available to all insurers
HARRISBURG, June 6 – State Rep. Austin Davis, D-Allegheny, today released the following statement regarding UPMC’s agreement to make all UPMC Hillman Cancer Center locations available to all insurers, including all Highmark commercial and Medicare Advantage members, after the expiration of the consent decrees on June 30:
“Today we have a win in a longstanding dispute that in years past has had few positives. I applaud UPMC for agreeing to make all UPMC Hillman Cancer Center locations available to all insurers at the currently agreed upon in-network rates after the expiration of the consent decrees.
“Despite the Highmark/UPMC dispute, it’s encouraging to know that the parties involved recognize a need to grant access to these one-of-a-kind medical centers so that patients can receive the care they deserve, regardless of the name that’s on their insurance card.
“The decision made today by UPMC has given families in western Pennsylvania hope – hope now that their loved one can access UPMC Hillman Cancer Center’s world-renowned clinical programs, and hope that they, too, may be able to access other facets of UPMC in the near future.”
