Davis: $1.25 million awarded to Clairton redevelopment project

State grant to fund site prep work at unused brownfield location

McKEESPORT, Dec. 6 – Continuing his commitment to help redevelopment and revitalization efforts throughout the Mon Valley, state Rep. Austin Davis, D-Allegheny, today announced a $1.25 million state grant to support a major redevelopment project in Clairton.

“This is another major state investment in the future of our region, which will enable the redevelopment of a brownfield site in Clairton,” Davis said. “Since taking office I’ve fought for funding for projects like this, which leverage state dollars to promote private investment in our communities. When we invest in our communities, we invest in our future.”

Grants awarded Monday through the state’s Redevelopment Assistance Capital Program included $1.25 million for the Central Industrial Center of Clairton, which will help fund site work including earthwork and grading, erosion control measures, installation of on-site utilities, on-site circulation and parking, a rail siding of 900 linear feet, and site amenities including lighting, fencing, signage and landscaping.

The Redevelopment Assistance Capital Program is a grant program administered by the Office of the Budget for the acquisition and construction of regional economic, cultural, civic, recreational and historical improvement projects.
