Davis announces $250,000 in state funding for Mon Valley nonprofits

McKEESPORT, March 14 – A combined $250,000 in state grants will help fund upgrades for the Allegheny County Library Association and Best of the Batch Foundation, announced state Rep. Austin Davis, D-Allegheny.

The Allegheny County Library Association secured $150,000 in funding for ADA compliance upgrades.

“The ACLA has been an incredible asset to residents throughout the county and the Mon Valley,” Davis said. “This investment for improvements will make the library more accessible for more people to enjoy the high-quality public library service that the ACLA provides.”

A $100,000 grant will be used for construction costs associated with Best of the Batch Foundation’s STEAM Lab Renovation Project. The Best of the Batch Foundation was founded in Homestead by former Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Charlie Batch and offers a variety of educational programs to school-aged children.

“The Best of the Batch Foundation provides thousands of children in financially challenged communities with educational programming that inspires them to realize their greatest potential,” Davis said. “I’m proud to have helped secure an investment in the foundation’s STEAM Lab, which is an important resource that engages children in math and science, helps them discover future possibilities in tech, and allows them to express themselves creatively.”

The grants are from the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development.
