Allegheny County Delegation welcomes two new state representatives

HARRISBURG, April 25 – The Allegheny County Democratic Delegation today welcomed two new state representatives with the swearing in of State Reps. Aerion Andrew Abney and Martell Covington in Harrisburg.

Both new lawmakers represent parts of Pittsburgh and the east end including Wilkinsburg and the surrounding area.

“It was a wonderful opportunity to welcome these two new representatives to the General Assembly, and I look forward to working with them in the days and weeks ahead to make a difference in the lives of Pennsylvanians and the people they represent,” said State Rep. Austin Davis, D-Allegheny. “I am confident that Aerion and Martell will hit the ground running and have a great impact on their fellow lawmakers, bringing fresh ideas and new perspectives to Harrisburg.”

Abney was elected to represent the 19th Legislative District in a special election earlier this month. The district includes downtown, Schenley Heights, and the North Side, as well as parts of Beltzhoover and Hazelwood.

Covington was recently elected to the 24th Legislative District, which includes Garfield, Highland Park, East Liberty, Larimer Homewood, East Hills, Bakery Square, Point Breeze North and Wilkinsburg.
