Rep. Kirkland announces $40K in funding for local first responders
CHESTER, Feb. 7 – State Rep. Brian Kirkland, D-Delaware, announced $40,005 in state grants has been awarded to local fire and EMS companies.
Through the Fire Company and Emergency Medical Service Grant Program, first responders can use the funding for construction or renovation of facilities and fixtures, maintenance and improvements for service capabilities, purchase or repair of equipment, purchase of fuel for company vehicles, plus training and education.
“It’s impossible to overstate the importance of our first responders – those who risk everything to keep us safe in our worst moments,” Kirkland said. “I’m so thankful to all who helped secure this critical funding for our local fire and EMS companies.”
The following companies secured funding:
- Chester Fire Dept.: $14,248.
- Eddystone Fire Dept.: $13,426.
- Lower Chichester Volunteer Fire Dept.: $12,331.
Kirkland noted that recipients still need to complete and return original signed copies of the grant agreements by May 31 in order to receive the funding.
