Kirkland announces over $385,000 in grants for Chester-Upland School District

CHESTER, Aug. 30 – State Rep. Brian Kirkland, D-Delaware, announced today that the Chester-Upland School District received $385,884 in Pennsylvania Department of Education (PDE) grants to improve schools.

“This week Governor Wolf announced over $15 million in competitive grant funding that was distributed to 16 different school districts out of 500 throughout the commonwealth.” Kirkland said.

The grants come from the department’s comprehensive System for District and School Improvement and fulfill part of House Democrats’ Plan4PA to help schools and improve education across the commonwealth.

“Although this is a step in the right direction, I will continue to fight for our schools in the 159th district so that our children receive a quality education,” Kirkland said.

“Thank you Governor Wolf for recognizing the need for additional school funding. We will continue to identify any resources that would assist our children in receiving a competitive education.”
