Cephas announces committee assignments for 2025-26

Will serve as chairwoman of Government Oversight Committee

HARRISBURG, Jan. 15 – State Rep. Morgan Cephas, D-Philadelphia, announced that she has been assigned by leadership to serve on five standing House committees for the 2025-26 legislative session.

Cephas will serve on the Commerce; Consumer Protection; Technology & Utilities; Housing & Community Development; and Insurance committees for the state House of Representatives. Cephas was also selected to continue as the chairwoman of the House Government Oversight Committee.

Cephas is also a co-chairwoman and co-founder of the Pennsylvania Black Maternal Health Caucus and is expected to be re-elected as the chairwoman of the Philadelphia House Delegation later in January.

“Committees are where the real deliberation happens in the House, so these assignments are among the most important parts of my job,” Cephas said.

“I expect this new legislative session to build on the momentum of the previous session and on the successes of our Democratic majority in the House. The work in these committees align well with the priorities of my communities and will be important for the missions of the Philadelphia House Delegation and the PA Black Maternal Health Caucus.

“I appreciate the confidence that Speaker Joanna McClinton and Leader Matt Bradford have placed in me with all of my committee assignments, and I look forward to delivering for all Pennsylvanians with our leadership.”

All standing committees will hold a reorganization meeting to begin their work in the near future. The House is currently scheduled to return to session beginning on Jan. 27.

The 192nd Legislative District comprises communities in West Philadelphia which are north and west of Market Street including Overbrook, Wynnefield, Carroll Park and more.
