TAKING IDEAS & TURNING THEM INTO LAW
|
As chairman of the Policy Committee, it's always rewarding to see an emerging topic or trend progresses from a Policy hearing and is ultimately shaped into law.
This session, the House Majority Poicy Committee once again toured the state, inviting experts and advocates to testify before lawmakers to explain why particular issues need our attention. The hearings educate lawmakers, staff and the public on how we can better reform and shape the state's policies for schools, local businesses, workers and more.
We had a number of policy wins this year, and we are excited for what the future might bring as we prepare for next year!

We accomplished so much in 2024. We increased the amount of money seniors can receive in rebates, we tripled the amount working families can recoup in the child and dependent care tax credit.
When prices increased elsewhere, we worked to make sure you kept more money in your pocket!
Our work continues in 2025, but I remain committed to representing the workers and working families of our region – if I'm in the room, know you will have a seat at the table.

Every dollar counts for our seniors living on a fixed income, that's why I voted to make sure more retirees receive the support they need. That includes a new law that takes effect later this month – which will decrease the amount retirees pay for their vehicle registration.
Retirees earning up to $29,906 will qualify, decreasing their vehicle registration fee from $45 to $11. (Please note, veterans benefits are not counted toward your earnings for this program.) You can read more about this program here.
As always, if you have questions, my team and I are ready to help you!
- We can fill out the paperwork.
- Get the paperwork to the Department of Transportation.

I'm home in Erie County, but the Capitol hosted its annual tree-lighting ceremony in Harrisburg yesterday – another reminder of the joy this holiday season can bring.

If you are in search of a particular piece of legislation, or the online record displaying how each member of the House voted, you can find it here.
The House will return to Harrisburg for session in January.
|
I chair the House Majority Policy Committee. We travel the state to host hearings and roundtable discussions with members of the House.
We bring in experts, advocates, first responders, victims, survivors, taxpayers, workers, executives and professionals, all so that members of the House can hear directly from the people on the front lines.
UP NEXT: The Policy Committee will host its 106th hearing of the session on Dec. 18 in Harrisburg.

When private for-profit schools and their dark money backers came after Fairview and Millcreek School Districts to siphon off taxpayer dollars to make a profit off taxpayers. I stopped them. We need to protect our high-performing schools!
My team and I deliver for local people & projects. We cut the red tape in Harrisburg to secure the support our region needs.
?When our schools need funding ...
?When our police officers need a new vehicle to preserve lives ...
?When our firefighters need funds for life-saving equipment ...
We delivered to the tune of more than $90.8 million during the 2023-24 legislative session.
