HONORING THOSE WHO SERVED
|
The snow on the ground and chilly temperature didn't stop my team & me from taking time to participate in Wreaths Across America.
Our grateful nation will never forget the sacrifices made by those who served, so we may continue to enjoy our freedoms this Christmas & holiday season.

MORE THAN $1 MILLION FOR PUBLIC SAFETY
|
Last week, the state invested more than $1 million in grants to improve public safety, help victims of crime, and support child advocacy centers.
My career of public service started as a victim and witness coordinator and advocate for the Office of the Erie County District Attorney and the Crime Victim Center. I’ve seen what these dollars can do for people. We can’t always stop crime before it happens, nor make people whole in its aftermath, but these dollars will be used for important efforts to make our community safer and help people in need.
My team and I have now helped secure more than $92 million in state funding during this session for local projects and services in our region.

NEARLY $2 MILLION FOR LIFE-SAVING RECOVERY SERVICES
|
The state invested nearly $2 million this week for life-saving recovery services in Erie County and the northwest region.
This grant will make sure that the people in our community attempting to turn their lives around have the access they need to life-saving services. The opioid epidemic has illustrated the need for more services and treatment options, and this investment makes certain our region has the services it needs to help people recover after they turn away from drugs and alcohol.
This grant of $1,875,000 will be used during a 29-month period beginning in February 2025. Read more here.

The Policy Committee convened for its 106th hearing of the 2023-24 legislative session this week. The committee reaffirmed its mission to address financial challenges facing Pennsylvania workers, and it announced its subcommittee chairs for the upcoming legislative session that begins work in 2025.
Rep. Mary Isaacson will return as vice chair of the committee. Rep. Emily Kinkead will work as the chair of the Subcommittee on Labor, Energy, and Development. Rep. Tarik Khan will work as the chair of the Subcommittee on Emerging Policies for Working People.
Kinkead, who represents Allegheny County, has the experience necessary to lead on issues involving labor and energy. Khan, who is a nurse practitioner and researcher, is poised to highlight issues involving health care and the need for greater support for Pennsylvania workers.

If you are in search of a particular piece of legislation, or the online record of how the House voted, you can always view it here.
The House will return to Harrisburg for session in January.
|
I chair the House Majority Policy Committee. We travel the state to host hearings and roundtable discussions with members of the House.
We bring in experts, advocates, first responders, victims, survivors, taxpayers, workers, executives and professionals, all so that members of the House can hear directly from the people on the front lines.

When private for-profit schools and their dark money backers came after Fairview and Millcreek School Districts to siphon off taxpayer dollars to make a profit off taxpayers. I stopped them. We need to protect our high-performing schools!
My team and I deliver for local people & projects. We cut the red tape in Harrisburg to secure the support our region needs.
- When our schools need funding ...
- When our police officers need a new vehicle to preserve lives ...
- When our firefighters need funds for life-saving equipment ...
We delivered to the tune of more than $92 million during the 2023-24 legislative session.
