Recovering What's Yours | Putting Money Back in Your Pocket

HELPING YOU RECOVER WHAT IS YOURS

You can trust my team and I to recover what is rightfully yours! The state Treasury holds unclaimed property, which can include lost paychecks or balances from closed bank accounts that can be lost because of clerical errors-like a misspelled name or old address. The process involves searching databases and filling out forms, and while I have introduced bills to streamline this process my team knows how to cut the red tape for you.

My team and I will jump through all the hoops so you can recover your items. Join us:
  • 9:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
  • Friday, March 14th
  • My District Office: Peninsula Plaza, 1101 Peninsula Dr., Suite 213, Erie
Questions? Call us at (814) 835-2880.

PROVIDING YOU WITH THE INFORMATION YOU NEED

Thank you to everyone who came out to our Property Tax & Rent Rebate informational seminar this morning! This seminar was geared toward first-time filers. If you couldn't attend but have questions, contact us at (814) 835-2880. My team and I will answer your questions, and we will help you take care of all the paperwork.

MY TEAM IS READY TO HELP YOU GET YOUR REBATE

My office helped more than 1,200 people receive their Property Tax & Rent Rebate last year. This state program helps older Pennsylvanians, widows, widowers and people with disabilities recover a portion of what they paid in property taxes or rent during the previous year.

If you need assistance, we can help!

Constituents are welcome to stop in my district office, located at 1101 Peninsula Drive, Suite 213, Erie, PA 16505. We are open Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. No appointment is required.

POLICY HEARINGS DISCUSS WAYS TO HELP WORKERS, IMPROVE HOUSING

I chair the House Majority Policy Committee, traveling the state to host hearings and roundtable discussions with advocates looking to improve lives. This week's hearings included a discussion on new legislation to combat wage theft, ensuring workers receive the wages and benefits they have earned. We also brought in experts to discuss challenges and solutions to improve achievable housing options, which are limited and are adding to Pennsylvania's workforce issues and stifling its economic development.

Lawmakers also participated in a briefing on ways artificial intelligence can be used in our schools, particularly how administrators and teachers can use AI to eliminate repetitive and mundane tasks in order to increase time communicating and creating bonds with their students.

UP NEXT: The committee travels to Philadelphia and Berks County. You can watch and read about the hearings here.

WATCH OUT FOR SCAMS

Perhaps you’ve received a number of texts claiming you have unpaid tolls in Pennsylvania or other states. These are scams attempting to get your personal information. Don't respond. You can read more about these scams and learn how to report these smishing attempts here.

The Pennsylvania's Attorney General Office has also issued info this week on another scam that targets consumers with urgent messaging — such as “protect your money” and “take care of any criminal charges.” Consumers may be persuaded to act because scammers mention their bank or financial institution. Do not fall for this scam.

INVESTING IN ERIE: IT'S STATE BUDGET SEASON

February has a lot of competitions stopping or starting - football ends, NASCAR starts, pitchers and catchers report for Spring training. My biggest competition also starts in February: state budget season.

After Governor Shapiro delivered his budget address, it's up to the legislature to figure out how we're going to do the most good with the resources we have. For me, it's also jockeying to get Erie County what it needs to succeed. Revitalizing communities, supporting local businesses, helping people afford a home, or land a better job, making their schools better - this is why I'm here. And I'm here to win.

TAX FORMS AVAILABLE AT MY OFFICE

The federal, state and local tax forms you need are in! Stop by and pick them up at our office in Millcreek.

SAFEGUARDING OUR SCHOOLS

When private for-profit schools and their dark money backers came after Fairview and Millcreek School Districts to siphon off taxpayer dollars to make a profit off taxpayers. I stopped them. We need to protect our high-performing schools!

My team and I deliver for local people & projects. We cut the red tape in Harrisburg to secure the support our region needs.

  • When our schools need funding ...
  • When our police officers need a new vehicle to preserve lives ...
  • When our firefighters need funds for life-saving equipment ...

We delivered to the tune of more than $92 million during the 2023-24 legislative session.
