Helping workers overcome affordability crisis key to work in Harrisburg
Rep. Ryan Bizzarro February 3, 2026 | 2:37 PM
HARRISBURG, Feb. 3 – State Rep. Ryan Bizzarro, D-Erie, the House Majority Policy Committee Chairman, released the following statement on the budget address delivered by Gov. Josh Shapiro.
“Since winning the majority, House Democrats have consistently worked alongside Gov. Shapiro to deliver seven tax cuts to workers, families and small businesses. This budget proposal contains zero tax increases. We hope Republicans will join us to continue cutting taxes and look at ways to cut your electric bill, because we’re fighting for a Pennsylvania people can afford.
“There is much to be optimistic about. Pennsylvania has the fastest-growing state economy in the Northeast, we’re producing more energy than ever before, and we continue to strengthen our schools while investing in career and technical training. We’re also making our hometowns safer by putting more cops on the street and investing in violence prevention programs, decreasing violent crimes and lowering homicide rates in our largest cities to their lowest levels in decades.
“Pennsylvania has proven it’s open for business, winning major corporate investments that create good-paying jobs in our hometowns – like Erie – and improve the quality of life for future generations. We need more child care workers to strengthen our workforce, and this includes investments for Pre-K. Pennsylvania’s future must also include a clear plan to evaluate how data centers fit in our economy without hurting homeowners and communities.”
“I appreciate the governor’s vision; a pathway we can follow through the legislative process to deliver a Pennsylvania people can afford.”
Bizzarro has continued his career-long track record of pursuing needed funding for local projects through state investments. This legislative session, Bizzarro has helped secure more than $31.1 million in state funding for projects and services that help people in the Erie region.
