State invests in museums, historical preservation in Erie County

ERIE, Sept. 10 – Providing the state investment needed to improve and enhance the cultural and historical work being done in Erie County, the state approved $44,000 for Erie County projects through the Pennsylvania Historical & Museum Commission.

“These investments help preserve the places, stories and traditions that connect us to our past and shape our future,” said Bizzarro, who represents Fairview and Millcreek townships. “Our history is worth protecting, and these grants give local organizations the resources they need to preserve it for generations to come.”

Grants in Erie County included:

  • $30,000 for the Erie County Historical Society
  • $8,000 for the Presque Isle Light Station
  • $6,000 for the Experience Children Museum

Today’s announcement included $4 million in Cultural and Historical Support Grants to help empower 182 museums and official county historical societies across 60 Pennsylvania counties.

This announcement continues Bizzarro’s pursuit of state investments for local projects. Bizzarro has helped secure more than $63 million in state funding this legislative session for projects and services that help people in the Erie region.
