Rep. Bradford Announces $1 Million Awarded to Community Projects

HARRISBURG, July 16 – State Rep. Matt Bradford, D-Montgomery, today announced $1 million in state funding for local construction projects that will make the community a better place.

“Both of these projects will create and improve recreational spaces for our community, giving kids and adults alike opportunities to play, exercise and gather together,” Bradford said. “I’m grateful to the Shapiro Administration for investing in our community.”

Camp Rainbow in Schwenksville was awarded $500,000 for improvements to the property, including camper bunkhouses, the nurse's station, dining hall, activity cabins, recreation pavilions and restroom enclosures to address accessibility, structural integrity, interior elements and mechanical/electrical/plumbing systems.

Whitpain Community Center in Whitpain Township was awarded $500,000 for the construction of a community center. It will include two basketball courts that could be configured to accommodate six pickleball courts, a large and small meeting room, a fitness center, an elevated walking track, a lobby, bathrooms and storage space, as well as improvements to the parking facilities, lighting and trails.

The state funding was awarded through the Redevelopment Assistance Capital Program, a state grant program for the design, acquisition and construction of regional economic, cultural, civic, recreational and historical improvement projects.
