Property Tax/Rent Rebate deadline, plus LIHEAP applications

Dear Neighbor,

The deadline to apply for the state’s Property Tax/Rent Rebate Program is quickly approaching (Dec. 31, 2019). Applications for the program for taxes or rent paid in 2018 are available online at and in my district offices. The program provides eligible applicants rebates of up to $650 on rent or property tax paid by Pennsylvanians 65 or older, widows and widowers 50 or older, and people with disabilities 18 or older.

The application is available on the Department of Revenue’s website at

Claimants must reapply for rebates every year because they are based on annual income and property taxes or rent paid each year. Spouses, personal representatives or estates may file rebate claims on behalf of deceased claimants who lived at least one day in 2018 and meet all other eligibility criteria.

In addition, my office can help complete and submit the application.

LIHEAP Applications Are Now Being Accepted

The Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) application process for the 2019-20 season began November 1. LIHEAP provides assistance with heating bills to low-income Pennsylvanians who either rent or own their own home. Applications for LIHEAP can be completed online at or through the MyCOMPASS PA mobile app.

Paper applications are available through local county assistance offices, or interested applicants can download and print an application from the department’s website. For more information on LIHEAP, visit The application process will end April 10, 2020.

Warmest Regards,

Matt Bradford
