Briggs congratulates Greater Valley Forge TMA on funding for student traffic safety initiative

HARRISBURG, May 10 – State Rep. Tim Briggs congratulated Greater Valley Forge Transportation Management Association on a state grant that will help the organization teach students about traffic safety.

Greater Valley Forge TMA was awarded $111,000 for the interactive program “My School on the Move,” which teaches middle school students about traffic safety laws.

“Greater Valley Forge TMA does great work to enhance transportation options throughout our region and make sure our residents can get around easily and safely,” said Briggs, D-Montgomery. “I was pleased to advocate for this funding, which will allow the organization to reach out to our younger residents and help them learn how to safely navigate our communities.”

The funding is part of $68.8 million awarded by the state through the Surface Transportation Block Grant program Set-Aside, or Transportation Alternatives Set-Aside. The program provides funding for projects and activities defined as “transportation alternatives,” such as pedestrian and bicycle facilities, infrastructure projects, trails that serve a transportation purpose, and safe routes to school projects.
