Burgos kicks off Hispanic Heritage Month
HARRISBURG, Sept. 17 – State Rep. Danilo Burgos, D-Phila., on Monday joined representatives with the Commission on Latino Affairs in the state Capitol to kick off Hispanic Heritage Month.
“Today, we celebrate Latinos and their contributions to Pennsylvania,” Burgos said. “We also join together to ensure that Latinos who give so much of themselves to make our state a great place to live, work and play have access to the resources they need. There are so many tools and resources available to our Latino brothers and sisters, but those tools do no good if Latinos are not aware of them or able to access them.”
Burgos drew attention to the importance of Latinos being counted in the 2020 Census.
The theme for this year’s Hispanic Heritage Month is “A History of Serving Our Nation.” The theme is a reflection on Hispanic American’s service and contributions to the history of the nation and honors the significant achievements and contributions of Latino cultural leaders.
