Burgos announces $1M grant for youth-violence prevention services

HARRISBURG, April 15 – State Rep. Danilo Burgos announced today that two Philadelphia organizations received a total of $1 million in grants from the Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency.

The awards include:

  • $500,000 to The Lighthouse Inc. to expand its Recreation Over Violence initiative, a trauma-informed violence-prevention program serving high-risk youth and families in Kensington neighborhoods.
  • $500,000 to Xiente to expand its Youth Take Action violence-prevention workforce development initiative for nearly 100 high-risk Hispanic and Black teens in areas of Philadelphia.

“When funding is awarded to those working with our youth, the community benefits,” said Burgos, D-Phila. “I’d like to thank the Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency for investing in Philadelphia.”

The awards are part of the 2025–26 Violence Intervention & Prevention (VIP) and Building Opportunities Through Out-of-School Time (BOOST) funding framework administered by PCCD. BOOST grants are intended to expand out-of-school programming for at-risk school-age youth and support evidence-based or evidence-informed practices delivered by community partners.
