Burns urges local fire companies to apply for state grant program

Program targets volunteer companies in rural areas

EBENSBURG, Feb. 24 – State Rep. Frank Burns, D-Cambria, is urging local volunteer fire companies to apply for a state grant program aimed at helping rural companies fight brush and forest fires.

The program, which is administered by the state Department of Conservation and Natural Resources, provides up to $12,500 for training and equipment.

“Over the past several years, I’ve secured more than $1 million to help our local firefighters, and I’m committed to ensuring they have the resources they need to keep our communities safe,” said Burns. “But I cannot apply on their behalf, which is why I am urging them to do so, and to contact my office if they need help.”

The application deadline for the grant program is May 12. More information can be found at https://apps.dcnr.pa.gov/grants/.
