Burns hosts Pet Food Drive for pets at local shelters

JOHNSTOWN, March 27 — To help feed pets at local shelters, state Rep. Frank Burns, D-Cambria, will host a Pet Food Drive in April at his district offices and at participating local schools.

“I host this Pet Food Drive annually, and I’m always heartened to see how much local residents pitch in to help the pets who end up in shelters,” Burns said. “Students get particularly excited to pitch in, and they’ve helped us collect a truckload of food some years. Our shelters need all the help they can get as they take care of pets that have been abandoned or neglected.”

Those interested in donating may drop off non-perishable food items at either of Burns’ offices at 535 Fairfield Ave. in Johnstown or 123 W. High St. in Ebensburg. The offices are open from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.

Several local schools also are participating in this drive. Students may bring items to their classroom’s donation box at participating schools.

At the end of April, the donations will be taken to local collection sites for shelters.
