Burns secures $1.43 million in new grants for local projects and equipment
State funds ensure 10 projects and purchases happen in Cambria County without burdening local taxpayers

JOHNSTOWN, Sept. 15 — Capitalizing on his seniority and experience in Harrisburg, state Rep. Frank Burns, D-Cambria, today announced $1.43 million in new state grants for 10 worthwhile projects in the 72nd Legislative District.
“I work hard to make sure Cambria County is never overlooked—especially when it comes to getting our fair share of state funding,” Burns said. “These grants are critical for local projects, which might not ever happen without the state funds, or might burden local taxpayers if the state didn’t chip in. That’s why I never shy away from pressing my connections in Harrisburg to help us out at home.”
The grant recipients are:
- Blacklick Township: $60,233 for a new police cruiser.
- Cambria Township Water Authority: $58,465 for a tank mixer.
- Dale Borough: $151,420 for the Nathaniel Street Playground project.
- East Taylor Township: $120,727 for a new tractor.
- Franklin Borough: $184,000 for municipal building renovations and gym floor replacement.
- Jackson Township: $72,434 for a new truck.
- Johnstown Redevelopment Authority: $250,000 for construction of a community and recreation center.
- Nanty Glo Borough: $64,477 for a new police vehicle.
- Upper Yoder Township: $84,210 for a fire company paving project.
- West Taylor Township: $392,160 to rebuild Iron Street Bridge.

The grants awarded today come from Local Share Account funds which are approved and distributed by the Commonwealth Financing Authority.
