Out and about in the community this month!

We had such a wonderful time with all of you this past year, and I hope you received our opening newsletter in your mailbox by now!

We wanted to break up this newsletter to highlight the great work we’ve done both within the district and then also discuss what work we have done beyond the 201st Legislative District! Each experience has been meaningful, and we’re so grateful for the support, partnerships, and memories we’ve shared along the way.

In service,

Rep. Andre D. Carroll

Team Carroll in the Community

On December 22nd, my office partnered with J.E. Coleman Regional Library for their annual toy drive, where they contributed some gift cards to make sure every kid had something for the holiday season! Thank you, Coleman Library, for helping engage with our youth and providing programs to help students learn, develop, and connect with others in the community! I look forward to Team Carroll partnering with J.E. Coleman Regional Library in the future on community events!

On January 6th, Councilman Anthony Phillips and I had a water main break in the West Oak Lane area of our district. We made sure to go out and knock on the doors of the neighbors who had their water shut off. We provided them with water and asked if they needed any assistance from my office during this time of need! Thank you, Philadelphia Water Department, for treating this critical issue immediately and properly addressing the situation. Please, when emergencies like this happen in the community, don’t hesitate to contact my office to see how we can serve you!

On January 12th, I partnered with DBHIDS to get out in the community and make sure our families over on Ogontz Ave. were doing okay after one of two fires claimed the life of one of our neighbors. We wanted to make sure we came around with trauma support services to ensure that everyone affected was given a resource that can support them in this difficult time. Please keep the affected families in your thoughts. If you need contact information for any of these services, don’t hesitate to contact my office. We are always here to help.

On January 13th, my team partnered with Mastery Pickett and helped out with their Bi-Weekly Produce Giveaway. We gave away fruits and vegetables to some of the parents and students who stopped by. It was a great way to give back to the community and we’re happy we had the opportunity to be a part of it! We hope to see you there this Wednesday from 3 to 4:30!

On January 15th, I got the opportunity to tour the highly anticipated Grand Hanks STEM Center, which is a space dedicated to inspiring and educating kids in our community about science and the many ways they can get involved in STEM in the future. We want to send a huge thank you to Grand Hank for creating such an incredible resource for the next generation. We’re excited to support this project and feel the difference this will make in our community!

On January 19th, I attended FUMCOG’s 7th Annual Community Event for Martin Luther King Jr. Day. This was a wonderful event bringing together community members to inspire collaboration and celebrate the legacy of Dr. King. Thank you FUMCOG for inviting me to this special event. I can’t wait to share the many more special events you have in store!

I had the opportunity to join the students at MLK High School for a podcast conversation. Give it a listen to hear more about my story and some thoughtful questions the students asked. Click HERE to listen!

We were so busy on Christmas day, and I want to give a big shout out to Captain McCollum and 14th District officers who invited us to join their annual Christmas Day Giveaway. I truly enjoyed seeing the smiles and joy each family had with this big surprise. Thank you for being a good community partner; I look forward to joining you in the years to come!

As we kick off the new year, I want to remind you, again, that my office is here for any needs that you may have.

Whether you are experiencing job loss and need unemployment assistance, help with other state benefits, or even help with the job search, we are here to help. We also work tirelessly to go out and assist people in the community through volunteering, nonprofits, door knocking, and just getting to know our neighbors!

As always, feel free to call my office at 215.849.6592 or email me at RepCarroll@PaHouse.net if you have any questions, problems, or concerns. I look forward to working with you, and FOR you this upcoming year!
