Around the 201st!

Hello neighbors!

Lately, much of my time has been spent in our district. In my next email, I will be back in Harrisburg working on passing legislation to help YOU!

In the meantime, read on to see all of the great things that we have been doing around the 201st District!

Whether I am visiting a small business, reading to our youth, or providing needed resources to families throughout our area, I always have the best interests of my neighbors at heart.

Please, if you need any kind of state-related assistance, feel free to reach out to my office and we are more than happy to help you Feel The Difference!

As always in service,

Rep. Andre D. Carroll

On February 27th, I had the honor of speaking at the Black Writers Museum Archives Renaming and Collection Unveiling of The Theodore & Elsie Erwin Archives. This was held in recognition of Theodore and Elsie for a gift of over 1,500 books about and by Africa and African Americans. I was so happy to attend this special event and can’t wait to come back for a full tour. Please when you have time, visit the Black Writers Museum at the Historic Vernon House located at 5800 Germantown Avenue! They have so much to offer and Supreme Dow can help you find any book you might be looking for!

On February 27th, I got to close out Black History Month at Logan Elementary for their Black History Month Showcase! This was a great experience seeing all of the amazing students dressed up as Black community leaders! This event educated students on the importance of Black history and parts of the culture they may not have been aware of. We got to hear from members of Greek organizations and HBCU Alumni, while learning about the history of each generational shift in Black history. Thank you Principal Brady for inviting me to this wonderful showcase and I can’t wait to come back again!

On March 5th, I had the pleasure of reading to Kindergarten and First Graders at Joseph Pennell Elementary School for Read Across America Week! I was joined by members of the Nutrition Program, Nique and Courtney from Einstein Jefferson Hospital. Together we read the book “Apple Trouble.” I want to thank Principal Lofton for welcoming us into the school and giving us the opportunity to spend time with these students who were super excited to learn. I also want to acknowledge Einstein Jefferson Hospital for helping teach our students about the importance of nutrition and healthy habits in our communities.

On March 9th, I had the pleasure of being one of the speakers for Imhotep Charter School’s STEM Week! It was truly an honor to share a few words of inspiration and talk about my journey with students.

I’m especially excited that these students will have the opportunity to travel to Ghana this April. Experiences like this are so meaningful, and it’s inspiring to see young people exploring the world while learning more about history, culture, and innovation.

It’s always great to witness the amazing things our young people are doing in the community, and I wish them safe travel and a memorable experience on their trip. Thank you to Imhotep for the invitation! I can’t wait to see the highlights from the event.

On March 11th, I took a moment to recognize some of the incredible students from Martin Luther King High School. They organized a march and rally that began at their school and concluded at my office, where we had the opportunity to come together for meaningful conversations about federal and global issues. It was truly inspiring to hear their thoughts, perspectives, and passion for the world around them. The discussion touched on many important topics and highlighted the usefulness of early civic engagement. Moments like this remind me how important it is to create space for young people to be heard. So happy to have young leaders like them in our community!
