Don't miss all of the upcoming events in our area!

Hey Neighbors! I hope you had a restful and relaxing Easter. I was able to donate some candy to Capacity Church for their annual Candyland celebration. I’m always happy to contribute in any way I can, and I was so excited to see all the photos of our young people having a great time at the celebration!

Investing in our youth and young people in our community is a true passion of mine! Looking forward to seeing all the upcoming celebrations in the community!

As always in service,

Rep. Andre D. Carroll

On March 28th, I had the honor of attending Saudia Shuler’s street renaming, and it was such a beautiful moment for our community. Broad Street, where she has consistently shown up to serve others, will now be known as Broad and Saudia Shuler Way. It’s a powerful reminder of the impact one person can have when they lead with generosity and care. Thank you, Saudia, for your continued service and dedication. I hope this moment encourages even more people to invest in their communities and make a difference.

On March 28th, I took a relaxing walk with goats as part of the Philly Goat Project Grief Walk. It was a wonderful way to spend time in nature and learn different ways we can process our emotions. I learned so much—not just about goats, but about myself as well. If you are going through a difficult time or simply want to get out in nature with friends, family, or animals, please reach out to the Philly Goat Project to see their upcoming events and ways to get involved!

On March 28th, I also had the chance to get into the Easter spirit by visiting the Dare to Imagine Church Easter Egg Roll! It was wonderful to see so many kids excited about this special Easter egg hunt with thousands of eggs. Thank you, Pastor Scott and Youth Pastor Jeffery Scott, for inviting me to join you on this special Saturday. I truly appreciate the opportunity, and I look forward to coming back and attending your service soon!

On March 28th, I made my last stop at Dickinson College alongside Representative Ryncavage. This non-partisan event aimed to help students identify effective ways to turn their passions into political change. It was a wonderful experience, and I am truly grateful for the hospitality. Thank you, Dickinson College, for allowing me to speak with students about ways they can get involved in politics. I hope we inspired students to run for office or find their purpose in their communities.

On March 30th, I took a walk down Germantown Avenue with Jalil Meekins to see how we can continue improving the avenue through new developments and flourishing businesses that support and uplift our community. I look forward to seeing these projects unfold and to the possibilities of a new beginning in support of our communities, families, and youth.

On March 31st, I attended the Pain into Power: Youth Justice Summit. This was a great opportunity to build awareness, share resources, and brainstorm solutions related to aftercare for system-involved youth and families. The event included an immersive simulation experience where participants were able to take a direct role in understanding some of the systemic issues involved. Thank you to PDAO, Community Health Systems, the Support Center for Child Advocates, and Turning Points for Children for allowing me to share my thoughts on the system and gain firsthand experience with some of the challenges they work to address.

On April 6th, I had the opportunity to be on a panel for Community College of Philadelphia’s Power Hour alongside Councilmember Mark Squilla. It was truly an honor to share my experiences and connect with the next generation in such a meaningful way. Hearing directly from students about what matters most to them right now—and how politics is shaping their lives—was both inspiring and a powerful reminder of why this work is so important. Thank you to CCP for inviting me to participate and for creating such a thoughtful space for dialogue. I hope the students enjoyed it as much as I did!

On April 9th, I had the chance to celebrate the 2026 1A Boys High School Basketball Champions, Sankofa Freedom Academy! I was super excited to be there when they received their first gift from Nike. Congratulations to the entire team—from the coaches to the players! I know how hard you all worked, and I’m so happy to see it pay off.
