Learning about Farming Education
|
As a member of the state House Agriculture & Rural Affairs Committee, I had the opportunity to join a tour of Fox Chase Farm in Philadelphia.
The farm fosters education on agriculture - ranging from livestock and crop production to controlled environment agriculture and experiential programming - for 60 schools in Philadelphia, providing urban communities with the opportunity to learn about and embrace agriculture right in their backyards.
Our farms are vital to our state's economy. I am proud to support them, and I always look forward to learning new ways as to how urban communities like ours can work with the farming industry.

Recognizing our Outstanding Youth
|
United Way of Berks County hosted its first Read Alliance Youth Summit to recognize and celebrate the leadership of teen tutors in our community who support younger students in developing their reading skills, while also connecting them with several career and life pathways.
It was an honor to join in this recognition and celebrate the incredible work our students and United Way have done for our community!
|
I also had the honor of joining RIZE Youth Arts Organization for the Pennsylvania Youth Summit, which serves to empower youth through leadership development, wellness, civic engagement, entrepreneurship, social justice, and community voice.
This year's theme was "Built to Lead: Knowledge, Business & Civic Power." As a former business owner and current legislator, I know how important leadership skills like those RIZE instills in our youth are to lifelong success. Thank you for the invitation to this amazing event, and congratulations to everyone who took part in the summit!

Thank you for all of your amazing work Bhavya! If you know any high school students who are interested in public service and making our community a better place, they can apply for my Youth Council here.
