State lawmakers Rep. Ciresi, Sen. Mensch to host interfaith forum

State Rep. Joe Ciresi, D-Montgomery, and Sen. Bob Mensch, R-Montgomery, will cohost an interfaith forum open to the community from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 11 at The Carousel at Pottstown, 30 W. King St.

“Over the past several years, instances of hate crimes have been on the rise,” Ciresi said. “At the same time, divisive rhetoric has turned many of our interactions – especially on social media – into tense exchanges. It doesn’t have to be this way.

“I’m proud to partner with the Pennsylvania Human Relations Commission, state Sen. Bob Mensch and leaders from different faith backgrounds for this event. We want to start a conversation and work to de-escalate tensions in our community.”

The forum will provide an opportunity for people of various faiths and backgrounds to talk in a nonpartisan setting without the presence of bias or hate.

Members of the community are asked to RSVP to reserve a spot at the event by calling 484-200-8265.

Additionally, representatives from Pottstown Works (Salvation Army of Pottstown) will have a table at this event to promote job opportunities and training. Members of the Pottstown chapter of the NAACP are also expected to participate.
