State Rep. Angel Cruz announces $1 million in redevelopment funding for A & Indiana Campus

HARRISBURG, Dec. 6 – State Rep. Angel Cruz D-Philadelphia today announced $1 million in state grant funding was awarded to further economic and housing development efforts in his legislative district.

Cruz said the funding, awarded through the Redevelopment Assistance Capital Program, will help Impact Services Corp provide affordable housing options and easily accessible community services in the same building at the A & Indiana Campus.

“Philadelphia has had a housing crisis that has been amplified by the COVID-19 pandemic,” Cruz said. “This funding will create opportunities for Philadelphians to get back on their feet while providing easy access to community services.”

The project will include renovation of the 150,000 square-foot Mill building, converting it into mixed-use spaces that will provide affordable housing and community services. The renovations will meet all historic requirements, and include new flooring, roofing repairs, elevator installation, and will address parking issues for easier access to the building.

The Redevelopment Assistance Capital Program is a grant program administered by the Office of the Budget for the acquisition and construction of regional economic, cultural, civic, recreational, and historical improvement projects.

RACP projects are authorized in the Redevelopment Assistance section of a Capital Budget Itemization Act, have a regional or multi-jurisdictional impact, and generate substantial increases or maintain current levels of employment, tax revenue or other measures of economic activity.
