Recently, I shared an update on House Bill 2632, which reforms reporting requirements for the Educational Improvement Tax Credit (EITC) program. This program provides businesses with state tax credits for supporting scholarship organizations that help students attend private and religious schools.
The bill we passed this week strengthens the program by ensuring scholarship dollars reach the students who need them most, while preserving every scholarship currently available. It also increases transparency in the nearly $680 million invested through the program, giving taxpayers a clearer picture of how those dollars are being used and where they are making the greatest impact.
At the same time, the bill expands educational opportunities by allowing younger and at-risk students to qualify for scholarships. It also broadens how those scholarships can be used, including for after-school programs, STEM education, workforce development, and other opportunities that help students thrive.
Thank you for all of your letters and for voicing your concerns as a community. I will continue to fight for what we need.
