E-Blast: Happy 250th Anniversary, America!

PA Representative Gina Curry banner image

Hello Neighbors, Community Members and Friends,

Happy Independence Day! This weekend, communities across the country will celebrate the 250th anniversary of the birth of our nation. Below you’ll find a list of 4th of July events taking place right here in Delaware County.

As you gather this weekend to celebrate our nation’s independence, I encourage you to use this also as a moment of reflection.

The full truth of America’s story is that the promise of freedom proclaimed in 1776 did not reach everyone equally. For many Americans, the path to liberty, justice, and equal citizenship would take generations.

But the American story has never been defined only by where we began. It has been defined by the courage to move forward.

I believe we can move forward – forward from the resurgence of hate and discrimination we’ve seen in our last several years. It has been a hard road for us recently, but I know we can find a path that brings us back to our true democratic values. We have the resilience and the courage to get there.

Be safe this weekend, stay hydrated, and enjoy your celebrations!

In Service,

State Budget Update

Back in April, the PA House passed a proposed 2026-27 state budget, with bipartisan support, and sent it to the PA Senate for consideration. So far, the only action the state Senate has taken was to gut the budget in its Appropriations Committee this Monday.

Then they went home for the holiday weekend, even though there’s still work to be done. Our Senate Republican leadership chose to go home without offering their idea of a fair and equitable budget for the 2026-27 budget season.

My House colleagues and I will continue to fight for a fair and balanced budget that works for you – but we can only set it in place with the Senate’s cooperation.

I’ll continue to update you as things develop.

We’re Closed

My office is closed today, Friday, July 3, in observance of Independence Day. We will reopen as usual Monday morning. Have a great weekend!
