Curry applauds $657,500 in state funds for infrastructure improvements in Upper Darby, Lansdowne

UPPER DARBY, Jan. 21 — State Rep. Gina H. Curry, D-Delaware, today announced that two projects in Legislative District 164 have been granted funding through the PA Small Water and Sewer Program.

Curry said the two funded projects include:

  • $275,000 for relining of the Darby Creek Interceptor MH 99-98 by the Darby Creek Joint Authority.
  • $382,500 for Lansdowne Borough to replace approximately 500 ft. of outdated and deteriorating sanitary sewer infrastructure, including installing new sewer lines and manholes.

“Lansdowne residents have complained that sewer lines in Lansdowne Borough are prone to breakage and in need of maintenance for some time now, and I’m glad to see this funding made available for the borough to fix these issues and get the system working at its best,” said Curry. “It is also great to see investment in the maintenance of the Darby Creek Interceptor – keeping it up-to-date means better wastewater and stormwater management for our neighborhoods.”

Grants from the PA Small Water and Sewer Program are administered by the Commonwealth Financing Authority, which was established in 2004 as an independent agency to administer Pennsylvania’s economic stimulus programs.
