DeLissio to talk voting during 98th Town Hall
PHILADELPHIA, Aug. 7 – State Rep. Pamela A. DeLissio, D-Montgomery/Phila., will host her 98th Town Hall Meeting via Facebook Live at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Aug. 24.
The topic of discussion at this virtual town hall will be voting. DeLissio said that will include information on mail-in voting and open primaries, among other more specific aspects of the voting process.
“After the first substantial changes to the Pennsylvania Election Code in 82 years were signed into law last year, the worldwide pandemic has shown us just how important the topic of vote-by-mail has become,” DeLissio said. “It is vital to discuss the advantages of mail-in voting in this current public health crisis, as well as other ideas like open primaries. I look forward to the conversation.”
This will be DeLissio’s sixth consecutive town hall via Facebook Live since the COVID-19 pandemic outbreak and mitigation efforts necessitated different means to communicate and provide information. She said her office continues to explore different platforms for hosting town halls, but Facebook Live has thus far proven to be the most conducive way to provide interactive dialogue with constituents able to join the conversation.
“I continue to welcome residents from all parts of the 194th to join us and participate in the discussion,” she said. “This has proven to be a unique but effective way to maintain communication with my constituents. I am looking forward to when we can gather safely again, hopefully in the near future.”
