DeLissio to host two free shred events in October

PHILADELPHIA, Sept. 25 – State Rep. Pamela A. DeLissio will host two free shred events during October to help constituents safely dispose of unwanted personal documents.

“Shredding is an environmentally friendly way for residents to dispose of documents they no longer need without compromising their personal information,” said DeLissio, D-Montgomery/Phila. “I’m pleased to be able to host these events to help residents of the 194th Legislative District protect themselves from identity theft.”

The events will be held as follows:

  • 9 a.m. - 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 10, Magisterial District Courthouse parking lot, 925 Montgomery Ave., Narberth, 19072
  • 9 a.m. - 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 24, Main Street Theatre parking lot, 3720 Main St., Manayunk – Please note this new location.

Both events will be held rain or shine. Attendees must wear masks and practice social distancingShredding will be done on site with COVID-19 protocols in place, and all shredded paper will be recycled.

There is a limit of four grocery bags or banker boxes per household, and attendees will be asked to transport their materials from their vehicles to the bins for shredding. Newspapers, magazines and journals will not be accepted. The event will end sooner than 11 a.m. if the truck is full.

Common types of unwanted items for shredding include credit card statements, credit card applications, bank and investment statements, canceled checks, income tax information, insurance and health records, and retirement or pension fund information.
