DeLissio to host two free shred events this May
PHILADELPHIA, April 16 – State Rep. Pam DeLissio is hosting free shredding events this spring to help residents of the 194th Legislative District safely dispose of unneeded documents.
“Shredding documents that contain confidential information helps to protect against identity theft. These events are a great occasion to clear out old papers and discard them safely,” said DeLissio, D-Montgomery/Phila.
Two shred events will be held in May, following the event scheduled for April 17 in Lower Merion.
“Constituents are welcome to come to one or to all. Shredding events prove to be very important opportunities to address personal papers containing sensitive information in a safe and secure manner, particularly as folks have spent more time home cleaning out drawers and files,” DeLissio said.
Times, dates and locations for May are as follows:
- 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Saturday, May 15, Main Street Movie Theatre parking lot, 3720-40 Main St., Manayunk.
- 9:30 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. Sunday, May 23, Welsh Valley Middle School parking lot, 325 Tower Lane, Narberth.
There is a limit of four grocery bags or banker boxes per household, and attendees may be asked to transport their materials from their vehicles to the bins for shredding. Attendees must wear masks and practice social distancing. Newspapers, magazines and journals will not be accepted.
The events will end sooner than scheduled if the truck is full. Shredding is done on-site, and all shredded paper will be recycled. These events are rain or shine.
Common types of unwanted items for shredding include credit card statements or applications, bank and investment statements, canceled checks, income tax information, insurance and health records, and retirement or pension fund information.
Anyone with questions should call DeLissio’s office at 215-482-8726.
