DeLissio to host two free shred events in October

PHILADELPHIA, Oct. 8 – State Rep. Pam DeLissio will host two free shred events this month to help constituents safely dispose of unneeded documents.

The events will be held as follows:

9 a.m. – 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 16 at the Magisterial District Court Parking Lot, 925 Montgomery Ave., Narberth 19072.

9 a.m. – 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 30 at the Main Street Movie Theatre Parking Lot, 3720-40 Main St., Manayunk 19127.

Shredding personal papers helps to protect sensitive information and prevent identity theft,” said DeLissio, D-Montgomery/Phila. “I’m pleased to offer this event for my community and invite residents of the 194th District to attend one or both of these events.”

There is a limit of four paper grocery bags or banker boxes per household, and attendees may be asked to transport their materials from their vehicles to the bins for shredding. Attendees must wear masks and practice social distancing. Newspapers, magazines and journals will not be accepted.

The events will end sooner than scheduled if the truck is full. Shredding is done on-site, and all shredded paper will be recycled. These events are rain or shine. Plastic bags or cardboard boxes, after the contents are shredded, will be returned to the constituent.

Common types of unwanted items for shredding include credit card statements or applications, bank and investment statements, canceled checks, income tax information, insurance and health records, and retirement or pension fund information.

Anyone with questions should call DeLissio’s office at 215-482-8726.

An additional shredding event is being scheduled for Sunday, Nov. 14. The date and times will be finalized shortly.
