DeLissio November town hall set for Thursday, Nov. 19

PHILADELPHIA, Nov. 13 – State Rep. Pamela A. DeLissio, D-Montgomery/Phila., plans to hold her 52nd town hall at 10 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 19 in the Community Room at Falls Ridge Senior Housing, 4349 Ridge Ave. The community room can be accessed via Merrick Road into the parking lot behind East River Bank.

In the event that the state House is in session through the end of next week, the meeting will be rescheduled for a later date. DeLissio will inform constituents of any postponement through a phone call, with an email, and on her Facebook and Twitter sites.

DeLissio said town hall discussion will include the recently committee-approved legislation for the merit selection of Pennsylvania appellate judges – a topic she said is timely, given that expenditures in the recent Pennsylvania Supreme Court race topped $15 million.

DeLissio has recently introduced legislation proposing the PA Health Care Plan, which is a single-payer system that will have no co-pays, deductibles or premiums. That plan will be discussed during the town hall, as well.

Discussion will also include the state legislature’s continued efforts to set mandatory minimum sentences, thus prohibiting judges from considering circumstances on a case-by-case basis, DeLissio said.

“I am committed to holding town hall meetings to engage and dialogue with my constituents,” DeLissio said. “The meetings are held in different parts of the district and at different times of day in attempt to accommodate a variety of schedules and capabilities. No matter where you live in the district, all constituents are welcome to any and all town hall meetings.”
