DeLuca: $300,000 grant awarded to Penn Hills project to demolish landslide-damaged homes
HARRISBURG, May 25 – State Rep. Tony DeLuca announced today that the Commonwealth Financing Authority awarded $300,000 in grant funding from its Blight Remediation Program to the Municipality of Penn Hills to demolish two properties that were condemned following damage from landslides.
DeLuca said the project will remove the tax-delinquent properties at 235 and 270 Bramble St., which have been inhabitable due to landslides. Both properties are in danger of further damage since the landslides are still active and the hillsides continue to move, which could also cause additional damage to adjoining properties. The BRP funding will be used to demolish those properties, along with excavation and grading.
“This is a welcome relief, not only for the municipality, but more importantly, the nearby homeowners on the street,” said DeLuca, D-Allegheny. “I have been working on this for a very long time and will keep working on issues such as this in the district as more money becomes available.”
The CFA awarded a total of $12 million from its Blight Remediation Program for planning and remediation projects across the state.
