DeLuca pleased with insurance rates released by Insurance Department

PITTSBURGH, Oct. 1 – State Rep. Tony DeLuca, D-Allegheny, is reminding Pennsylvanians that they have more choices while shopping for health insurance coverage following the state Insurance Department’s announcement of 2022 health insurance rates.

“I’m pleased that the rates coming out of the state Insurance Department have been kept to a minimum, which we may not have seen without the passage of Act 42 of 2019,” DeLuca said. “As the Democratic chair of the House Insurance Committee, I helped to usher through legislation that became Act 42, establishing the state’s health insurance marketplace known as Pennie, which we’ve been able to run more efficiently than the federal government. This year, Pennsylvania’s Reinsurance Program is resulting in 2022 individual market premiums that are 5.5% lower on average than what they would have been without the program.”

DeLuca said with the new rates there are more options for consumers who are looking for health insurance plans. He also encouraged consumers who may not be happy with their current coverage to shop around.

DeLuca said the next open enrollment period for 2022 health insurance coverage begins on Nov. 1 and runs through Jan. 15, 2022. Pennsylvanians can sign up for individual health insurance coverage at
