Deasy announces more than $123,000 in state grants for local fire and EMS

PITTSBURGH, Feb. 18 – More than $123,000 in grants was awarded to local fire and EMS companies serving the 27th Legislative District, announced state Rep. Dan Deasy today.

"When someone calls 911, they are counting on our firefighters and EMS personnel to show up ready,” said Deasy, D-Allegheny. “Whether it is upgrading life-saving equipment, modernizing facilities, or investing in the training that helps our crews handle any emergency, every dollar of these investments will make a difference for our local men and women on the front lines.”

The funding was awarded as follows:

  • Scott Township Emergency Medical Services - $15,000
  • City of Pittsburgh Bureau of Fire EMS - $9,336
  • Bower Hill VFD - $14,281
  • Crafton Volunteer Fire Department - $15,724
  • East Carnegie Volunteer Fire Department - $14,281
  • Glendale Hose Co. No. 1 - $13,663
  • Greentree Volunteer Fire Co. - $14,075
  • Heidelberg Volunteer Fire Department - $12,426
  • City of Pittsburgh Bureau of Fire - $15,105

The Office of the State Fire Commissioner administered the funding through the Fire Company and Emergency Medical Services Grant Program. A full list of awardees is available here.
