Delloso to host press conference Wednesday on legislation to sell adult-use cannabis at state stores

HARRISBURG, Oct. 1 – State Rep. David Delloso, D-Delaware, will host a press conference Wednesday morning to talk about the bill he has introduced to legalize adult-use cannabis and sell it at state stores.

Members of the press and public are invited to attend the press conference at 9 a.m. Wednesday in the Capitol Media Center in Harrisburg.

Delloso’s H.B. 1899 paves the way for the legalization of adult-use cannabis and the sale of cannabis through the state store system.

Delloso will be joined by lawmakers, including state Rep. and House Democratic Whip Jordan Harris, D-Phila. Andy Hoover of the American Civil Liberties Union will also be in attendance to talk about criminal justice issues relating to cannabis.

“Like the majority of Pennsylvanians, I support the legalization of adult-use cannabis,” Delloso said. “Auditor General Eugene DePasquale has detailed the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania could be missing out on a $1.6 billion industry, including an estimated $581 million in annual tax revenue, if it fails to legalize cannabis.

“In order to guarantee the safety of our citizens, I’ve introduced a bill that would use our current state store system to sell cannabis, ensuring state regulations are enforced. This legislation would not only create more than 18,000 jobs and hundreds of millions of dollars in annual tax revenue, but it would allow Pennsylvania to be competitive with its neighboring states as more and more states legalize cannabis.”
