Donatucci introduces resolution celebrating Chinese New Year in Pennsylvania
PHILADELPHIA, Jan. 24 – State Rep. Maria Donatucci, D-Phila., announced today that she has introduced H.R. 675 to designate Jan. 25, 2020, as Chinese New Year in Pennsylvania.
“We are lucky to live in a beautifully diverse state that continues to grow and become more vibrant each year,” Donatucci said. “The ideals behind the Chinese New Year – family, community and friendship – are values that every culture celebrates with their own holidays. I’m honored to officially recognize Chinese New Year in Pennsylvania to highlight the incredible contributions that the Chinese community has made to our state, while also reminding each of us how much we have in common.”
Chinese New Year is an annual two-week-long celebration that begins on the first day of the traditional Chinese calendar. This year is the Year of the Rat.
