Forbes Avenue project to receive state funding
Grant will help fund sidewalk replacement, ADA access, other improvements
PITTSBURGH, Nov. 12 – A project to improve safety and connectivity along Forbes Avenue near Carnegie Mellon University has been selected to receive state funding, state Rep. Dan Frankel, D-Allegheny, announced today.
The $300,000 grant will assist with streetscape improvements along Forbes between Devon Road and Beeler Street. The project includes sidewalk replacement, ADA access, streetlights and other improvements.
“I am happy to see the state’s continued investment in projects that promote safety and connectivity within our communities,” Frankel said. “This project, part of the larger Forbes Avenue improvement plan, should help improve safety along that corridor for all users – pedestrians, bicyclists and drivers alike. I also want to thank the public and the community for their patience while this project is underway.”
The grant was among dozens awarded across the state Tuesday by the Pennsylvania Commonwealth Financing Agency’s Multimodal Transportation Fund, which encourages economic development and ensures that safe and reliable transportation is more widely available to Pennsylvanians.
