Gallagher announces $1.08 million in statewide LSA awards for 173rd Legislative District projects

HARRISBURG, Sept. 17 – State Rep. Pat Gallagher, D-Phila., and state Sen. Joe Picozzi, R-Phila., announced today that three projects in the 173rd Legislative District have been awarded a combined $1,08 million in funding through Pennsylvania's Statewide Local Share Account program.
The funding will support important improvements at Glen Foerd, St. Hubert High School and the Tacony Boat Launch, helping strengthen community facilities, expand public access and support future development.
Gallagher said the awards represent an important investment in Northeast Philadelphia and demonstrate the value of bringing state resources back to the community.
"I'm proud to see these investments coming back to our community," said Gallagher. "Glen Foerd, St. Hubert and the Tacony Boat Launch are all important assets in Northeast Philadelphia. These projects will improve our schools and community facilities while expanding opportunities for residents to enjoy our parks, trails and Delaware River waterfront."
Glen Foerd – Carriage House Utilities Upgrade — $398,479
Glen Foerd Park will use the funding to modernize utilities and install essential safety systems in its historic Carriage House. The improvements will help expand public access and support the park's growing arts and environmental education programs.
The project represents an important first step toward future renovations that will transform the Carriage House into a dedicated education center while also supporting the ongoing maintenance of the park's 18 acres.
St. Hubert High School – Perimeter Improvements — $187,760
St. Hubert High School will receive funding for improvements to the perimeter of its campus. The school, which is more than 60 years old, has exterior infrastructure that no longer fully meets the needs of the school community.
The LSA funding will help address those needs and improve the campus for students, faculty, families and the greater Northeast Philadelphia community.
Delaware River City Corp. – Tacony Boat Launch Construction Project — $500,000
The Delaware River City Corp. will receive $500,000 toward construction improvements at the Tacony Boat Launch.
The Tacony Boat Launch is one of only three public access points to the Delaware River within Philadelphia city limits and serves as an important trailhead for the five-mile K&T Trail. The project will help preserve and improve this important recreational and community asset along the Delaware River.
The Local Share Account program is funded through revenue generated by gaming and is administered by the Commonwealth Financing Authority to support projects that enhance economic development, public infrastructure and community vitality.
