Rep. Goodman comments on Gov. Wolf's budget address
HARRISBURG, Feb. 4, 2020 – State Rep. Neal P. Goodman released the following statement regarding Gov. Tom Wolf’s budget address:
“I’m pleased that Gov. Wolf has proposed a budget with no broad-based tax increases that invests more in schools and jobs. His proposal to make $1 billion available for schools to clean asbestos, lead and mold will benefit Schuylkill County, which has a significant number of old school buildings.
“Likewise, his proposal for universal, free, full-day kindergarten, and a $30 million increase for high-quality early childhood education programs will give kids from across the county a better start on their education.
“I was also happy to hear the governor again propose Restore Pennsylvania, which will help the county combat blight, repair rural roads and help communities to prepare and recover from disasters, such as the floods we experienced two years ago.
“As everyone knows, the governor’s budget address is a starting point for negotiations, and, inevitably, many parts of the proposal will change. I’m sure there will be robust discussions in the Capitol over the next several months.”
