Rep. Goodman welcomes announcement that Schuylkill County will go green

MAHANOY CITY, June 12 -- State Rep. Neal P. Goodman welcomed Gov. Tom Wolf’s announcement that Schuylkill County will be moving to the green phase of recovery from the COVID-19 crisis on June 19.

“I commend residents of Schuylkill County for taking this virus seriously and complying with the governor’s safety orders,” Goodman said. “Today’s announcement is the result of everyone taking necessary precautions to prevent the spread of this highly contagious virus.”

Goodman said he is grateful to the health care professionals and emergency responders who have put their lives on the line to keep county residents safe.

In the green phase, restaurants and bars, hair salons and barbershops, gyms and malls can reopen at 50 percent capacity. Also, construction can return to full capacity with safety protocols.

“Small businesses have suffered since many of them had to close their doors during the lockdown,” Goodman said. “I hope county residents support the small business community so they can get back on their feet financially.”

Goodman also urged residents to remain cautious and continue to wear masks and practice social distancing when appropriate, noting that 21 states have recently seen a spike in COVID-19 infections.
