Reps. Goodman and Gillespie praise move to expand Pennsylvania’s mentored hunting programs

State Reps. Neal P. Goodman and Keith Gillespie, who championed legislation to bridge the state’s mentored youth and mentored adult hunting programs, hailed a vote today by the Pennsylvania Board of Game Commissioners that will make that change through a regulation. The measure approved by commissioners will allow unlicensed people younger than 17 to participate in the mentored youth program, and will allow those 17 or older to participate in the mentored adult program. The change is expected to take effect this summer, after the regulation is reviewed and advertised. Read more

Goodman re-elected to House Democratic leadership team

HARRISBURG, Nov. 14 – State Rep. Neal P. Goodman on Tuesday was re-elected to the House Democratic leadership team and will continue serving as caucus administrator for the 2019-20 legislative session. In that position, Goodman oversees day-to-day operations of the caucus at the Capitol. "I'm looking forward to continuing to carry out my responsibilities as caucus administrator, and continuing to represent the interests of the people of the 123 rd Legislative District," said Goodman, D-Schuylkill County. Goodman began serving as caucus administrator in 2012. House Democrats elect their leaders as part of reorganization every two years. Goodman is the first House Democrat from Schuylkill County to hold a leadership position in the caucus since his uncle, James Goodman, served as chairman of the House Democratic Policy Committee from 1977 to 1980. Goodman has worked in state government for 28 years, serving as chief of staff to retired state Rep. Edward J. Lucyk from 1993 to 2002. During that time, he served as executive director of the House Veterans Affairs and Tourism and Recreational Development committees. He took office as state representative in 2003, and was recently elected to a ninth term. Pennsylvania receives extension for REAL ID

Pennsylvania has been granted a REAL ID enforcement extension by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) through August 1, 2019. This extension means that Pennsylvania residents will not face access issues when entering federal facilities or boarding domestic commercial aircraft through at least that date. REAL ID-compliant driver’s licenses and photo ID cards will be available from PennDOT at the customer’s option beginning March 2019. PennDOT is encouraging customers to pre-verify for REAL ID the required documentation as soon as possible, giving them ample time to prepare. Goodman, Argall announce grants for several communities

HARRISBURG, Dec. 4 – State Rep. Neal P. Goodman (D-Schuylkill) and Sen. David Argall (R-Schuylkill/Berks) today announced six grants will support community improvement projects in Delano Township, Frackville Borough, Mahanoy City Borough, Mahanoy Township, Saint Clair Borough, and Shenandoah Borough. Delano Township will receive $40,000 to assist with improvements at Delano Township Park and its basketball court. Frackville Borough will receive $742,000 to rehabilitate the Frackville Community Pool. Mahanoy City Borough will receive $40,000 for improvements at East End Playground and its basketball court. Mahanoy Township will receive $40,000 for improvements to Morea Park and to install play equipment and safety surfacing. Saint Clair Borough will receive $30,000 to rehabilitate Third Street Playground and to install play equipment and safety surfacing. Shenandoah Borough will receive $80,000 for improvements to Girard Park including the basketball court. The grants were awarded by the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources through its Community Conservation Partnerships Program. The program is funded through the Keystone Recreation, Park, and Conservation Fund (Key 93), the Environmental Stewardship Fund (Growing Greener 1), and several federal funding sources. “I commend these six communities for their hard work moving these projects forward and am pleased the state recognized their efforts through this funding,” Goodman Read more
