State Reps. Neal P. Goodman and Keith Gillespie, who championed legislation to bridge the state’s mentored youth and mentored adult hunting programs, hailed a vote today by the Pennsylvania Board of Game Commissioners that will make that change through a regulation. The measure approved by commissioners will allow unlicensed people younger than 17 to participate in the mentored youth program, and will allow those 17 or older to participate in the mentored adult program. The change is expected to take effect this summer, after the regulation is reviewed and advertised. Read more

Goodman on Tuesday was re-elected to the House Democratic leadership team and will continue serving as caucus administrator for the 2019-20 legislative session. In that position, Goodman oversees day-to-day operations of the caucus at the Capitol. "I'm looking forward to continuing to carry out my responsibilities as caucus administrator, and continuing to represent the interests of the people of the 123 rd Legislative District," said Goodman, D-Schuylkill County. Goodman began serving as caucus administrator in 2012. House Democrats elect their leaders as part of reorganization every two years. Goodman is the first House Democrat from Schuylkill County to hold a leadership position in the caucus since his uncle, James Goodman, served as chairman of the House Democratic Policy Committee from 1977 to 1980. Goodman has worked in state government for 28 years, serving as chief of staff to retired state Rep. Edward J. Lucyk from 1993 to 2002. During that time, he served as executive director of the House Veterans Affairs and Tourism and Recreational Development committees. He took office as state representative in 2003, and was recently elected to a ninth term.
