Free shredding event in Dunmore

DUNMORE, May 3 – State Rep. Kevin Haggerty, D-Lackawanna, will sponsor a free shredding event for residents of the 112th Legislative District from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. May 19 at the Dunmore Senior Center, 1414 Monroe Ave.
“One of the best defenses you can have to protect yourself from identity theft is to shred documents with sensitive personal information that you no longer need,” Haggerty said.
Haggerty said participants can bring documents that contain personal information, including Social Security numbers, credit card numbers and bank accounts such as:
- Credit card statements
- Credit card applications
- Bank statements
- Canceled checks
- Income tax information
- Insurance records/information, including medical
- Retirement/pension fund information
No electronics will be accepted at this event. Paper shredding only.
Haggerty said to help keep the line moving, people are limited to three boxes or bags.
