Hill-Evans announces grant for York College

YORK, Jan. 5 – State Rep. Carol Hill Evans, D-York, announced York College has been selected to receive $12,035, one of 37 institutions of higher education to receive an It’s On Us PA grant.

“The approval of this grant will allow important work to be done in our community,” Hill-Evans said. “Working to improve the resources available to sexual assault survivors, increasing the prevention of sexual assault and working to improve campus culture are all worthwhile endeavors.”

Gov. Tom Wolf created It’s On Us PA five years ago as a statewide campaign to work toward ending sexual assault. It’s On Us is a national campaign started in 2014 by the Obama-Biden administration to bring in more voices to the conversation on sexual assault, including the need to increase sexual assault prevention and survivor support services.

The grant announced today may be used through May 2022 to address goals of the It’s On Us PA campaign, including:

  • Improve awareness, prevention, reporting and response systems regarding sexual violence in college.
  • Remove or reduce barriers that prevent survivors of sexual violence from reporting or accessing resources.
  • Demonstrate leadership to change campus culture by challenging Pennsylvania’s education leaders to improve an institution’s climate around sexual assault.
