Hill-Evans and Gillespie honor York County SPCA advocates

HARRISBURG, June 4 – In a bi”paw”tisan effort, state Reps. Carol Hill-Evans and Rep. Keith Gillespie today presented a citation from the Pennsylvania House of Representatives to the York County SPCA.

“To recognize the month of April 2021 as Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Month in Pennsylvania, I, along with my colleague Rep. Gillespie, wanted to properly acknowledge the tireless efforts of those who fight against animal cruelty and champion the rescue of animals in crisis,” Hill-Evans said. “All too often, these selfless advocates who give a voice to the voiceless go unrecognized for their work. Rep. Gillespie and I wanted to change that by offering this citation.”

For nearly a century, the York County SPCA has made it their mission to provide long-term human and animal services to residents of York County through programs that find permanent, loving homes for displaced and stray animals, help control animal population growth, investigate and prosecute cruelty offenders and educate the general public about animal wellness and safety.

Anyone with questions can contact either Hill-Evans at 717-848-9595, rephill-evans@pahouse.net or Gillespie’s office at 717-840-4711. York County SPCA can be reached at 717-764-6109.
