More than 100,000 Pennsylvanian children suffer from food or insect allergies, and over 1,000 of these children have an allergy so severe that exposure could be fatal. Although many insurance companies do cover epinephrine pen injections, many low-cost short-term plans do not. It is unacceptable that, due to cost, any child be denied access to this life-saving intervention.
Rep. Hanbidge and Rep. Howard introduced a bill to require any state-regulated health insurance company to cover the cost of doctor-prescribed, medically necessary epinephrine pens for children under age 18.
Our children's health should be a top priority. Please pass this legisaltion on their behalf!
