Bizzarro announces more than $1 million investment for public safety

Grants totaling $1,142,552 will pay for Erie County services

HARRISBURG, DEC. 10 – State Rep. Ryan Bizzarro today announced more than $1.1 million in state grants to strengthen public safety, support crime victims, and bolster local justice system services throughout Erie County. The funding, approved by the Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency, will help victims recover, support children affected by crime, and reimburse Erie County for key probation and parole programs.

“I worked closely with victims and saw firsthand how essential it is that they are truly heard and connected with the support and programs they need to rebuild their lives,” said Bizzarro, who previously worked as the victim/witness advocate for the Office of the Erie County District Attorney. “The state investments announced today will strengthen public safety by addressing the needs of victims, law enforcement, and the professionals working every day to keep our communities safe.”

The investments announced today total $1,142,552 for Erie County:

  • $435,253: Erie County, Continuing County Adult Probation and Parole Grant program. Funds will be used to reimburse counties for adult probation and parole services.
  • $257,300: Crime Victim Center of Erie County, Rights and Services Act and Victims of Juvenile Offenders grant programs. Funds will ensure crime victims, whose cases are within the criminal and juvenile courts, receive all the protections, rights, and services they are entitled to under the law.
  • $250,000: Erie County, Intermediate Punishment and Treatment Programs. Funds will be used for electronic monitoring, intensive supervision, work release, day reporting and treatment services.
  • $149,999: National Alliance of Mental Illness, Erie County, Mental Health First Aid: Firearm Suicide Prevention and Intervention. Equips students, caregivers, educators, first responders, and community members with skills to recognize, respond to, and refer individuals experiencing mental health and substance use challenges. It includes a focus on crisis de-escalation and firearm suicide prevention.
  • $50,000: Children’s Advocacy Center of Erie County, CAC Support Grant for 2026 to ensure its core services to the children of Erie County who are victims of abuse. Grant will relieve some of the pressure to fundraise for day-to-day program operations as well as enable the board to address improved delivery, long-term planning, sustainability and program expansion.

Today’s announcement continues Bizzarro’s efforts to bring state support to local projects and services. This year, Bizzarro and his team have helped secure nearly $20 million in funding back to the region.
